Some tools earn their place over decades. The Purdy Enduring Quality campaign celebrates the well-loved brushes still being used by decorators today, proof of the craftsmanship, quality and trust built into every Purdy brush for over 100 years.

Built for a longer-lasting flawless finish that stands the test of time. Thanks to Purdy’s unique hand-crafted construction, brushes continue to load more paint and deliver a smooth, even release job after job, without compromising on finish quality.

Because with Purdy, it’s not just the brush that lasts. It’s the results too.

Clearcut Glide from 2007

"Almost 20 years ago, I placed a huge order directly with Purdy in America, and ever since then their products have been a permanent part of my kit.

Over the years, I’ve used a wide range of Purdy brushes, roller poles, frames, and sleeves across all kinds of decorating work. One of my favourite products is the smaller extension pole, which is perfect for tight spaces, along with the 6-inch rollers and frames that I was one of the first in our decorating group to start using for kitchens and small bathrooms. They’re ideal for detailed work and still get used regularly today.

I’ve also built up a great collection of Purdy brushes including my Clearcut Guide, which is perfect for gloss work, as it consistently gives an excellent finish when laying off despite it being almost 20 years old! No matter how much equipment changes, Purdy tools have always been reliable, high-quality products that I know I can depend on, and they’ll continue to be part of my kit for years to come."

XL Elite Sprig from 2007

"I started my journey as a painter around 10 years ago when my friend Marek M., who was already an experienced decorator, took me under his wing and taught me the trade. I remember turning up on site with a big bag of DIY painting tools, only for him to tell me to leave them in the bag before introducing me to Purdy frames, brushes, and other equipment. I instantly fell in love with the trade.

Since then, I’ve used Purdy tools throughout my career, and they’ve helped me become a better painter. Over the last decade, I’ve learned how important it is to have equipment you can rely on that won’t let you down. My XL Elite Sprig is still with me today, and has never let me down.

A big shoutout to Marek for teaching me the trade and being a great friend along the way.”

Monarch Elite from 2010

“I’ve always taken pride in doing things properly and paying close attention to detail throughout my working life. Over the years, that mindset naturally carried over into decorating and property work, where achieving a high-quality finish has always been important to me.

A close friend of mine, who spent many years as a professional decorator, became my go-to person for advice and recommendations. It was him who introduced me to Purdy brushes more than 16 years ago, and I’ve been using them ever since. My Monarch Elite has become my go-to brush for woodwork and cutting in walls for well over a decade and has been used on countless projects.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is how much paint products have changed, especially with modern quick-drying paints tending to dry out in the brush much faster than they used to. Even so, my Purdy brushes have always performed reliably and stood the test of time.”

Syntox from 2011

“I’ve been a Painter and Decorator since 1986 and have been using Purdy brushes for the past 20 years. I first started using Purdy products after hearing excellent reviews from fellow decorators. Over the years, I’ve worked all over the country and used a wide range of Purdy products, including rollers, brushes, poles, and filling knives. I can honestly say I’ve never been let down by the performance or quality of their products. My Syntox has served me for over 15 years, and gets the job done quicker than any others.”

Monarch Elite from 2021

“I first got into decorating during lockdown, working on my days off for a friend’s decorating company to earn some extra money. That’s where I learned the importance of proper prep work, lots of sanding, filling, and preparation, which has given me a strong foundation for my own business today. I now pride myself on quality preparation and delivering a high-standard finish on every job.

That’s also where I first discovered Purdy. I remember being told some Purdy brushes had lasted over ten years, which really impressed me. When I started my own business, one of my first investments was three Monarch XL brushes, and one of them is still used on almost every job today. I’ve always liked the firmness of the bristles and the quality of the finish they produce.
Over the years, I’ve built up a full range of Purdy equipment, including filling knives, quick-release poles, roller cages, sleeves, and various other tools. No matter what other equipment I invest in, Purdy products are always an essential part of my kit, and I’m looking forward to trying the new Sprig brushes.”

XL Elite Dale from 2015

“I started my journey in painting and decorating back in the late 1980s after securing a schoolwork experience placement, which later turned into a summer job and eventually a four-year apprenticeship. I stayed with the same employer for 20 years before moving into lecturing, something I had always wanted to do.

Now, as a lecturer at UHI Inverness, the most rewarding part of my role is watching apprentices grow in confidence, develop their skills, achieve their qualifications, and go on to build successful careers in the industry. Seeing that progression and knowing you’ve had a positive impact on someone’s future is incredibly satisfying.

Over the years, Purdy products have become a trusted part of both my own kit and the advice I give to apprentices. My XL Elite Dale is a beautiful brush, and still performs as well now, as it did 11 years ago.”

XL Monarch Elite from 2014

“Between 2010 and 2011, I completed Levels 1 and 2 in Construction Painting and Decorating, achieving a distinction. During the course, we had a brilliant visit from a London-based brush supplier who introduced us to a range of brushes and specialist decorating techniques. Not long after, I bought my first set of Purdy brushes, and I’ve never looked back.

As Decorating Divas began restoring and reviving private residential homes, my collection of Purdy’s steadily grew. For the past ten years, I’ve used my XL Monarch Elite, along with my other Purdy brushes, across a huge variety of projects, including interior and exterior decorating, boats, stables, outhouses, fencing, and barns.

What’s always impressed me most is how versatile, durable, and long-lasting Purdy brushes are compared to others I’ve used. I still genuinely love the work I do, and I always feel I can achieve my best results with a Purdy brush in hand.”
